Springisoneofthemostanticipatedseasonsformanypeoplearoundtheworld.Afteralong,coldwinter,thearrivalofspringbringsnewlife,warmerweather,andasenseofrenewedenergy.Astheflowersstarttobloomandthetreesbegintobud,peopleeagerlyanticipatethelongerdays,thechancetoenjoytimeoutside,andthehopefornewbeginnings.ThisisastoryaboutayounggirlnamedLily,whohasbeeneagerlywaitingforspringtoarrive.

Lilywokeupearlyonthisparticularmorning,feelingasenseofexcitementintheair.Shehadbeenwaitingforweeksforthefirstsignsofspringtoappear,anditseemedliketodaywastheday.Shejumpedoutofbed,threwopenhercurtains,andwasgreetedbyabeautifulsunrise.Theskywaspaintedinshadesofpink,purple,andorange,andtheairfeltcrispandfresh.

Asshegotdressed,Lilycouldn'thelpbutthinkaboutallofthethingsshewantedtodonowthatspringwashere.Shewantedtogoonlongwalksthroughthepark,havepicnicswithherfriends,andmaybeeventryherhandatgardening.Sheknewthatspringwasatimefornewbeginnings,andshewasexcitedtoseewhatthisseasonwouldbring.

Lilymadeherwaydownstairstothekitchen,wherehermotherwasalreadypreparingbreakfast.Thesmelloffreshlybakedmuffinsfilledtheair,andLily'sstomachgrumbledinanticipation.Astheysatdowntoeat,Lily'smotheraskedherwhatshewantedtodotoday.

"Iwanttogooutsideandexplore,"Lilysaidwithasmile."Iwanttoseeallofthebeautifulflowersthatarestartingtobloomandfeelthewarmsunonmyface."

Hermothersmiledbackather."Thatsoundslikeagreatidea,"shesaid."Whydon'twestartbygoingtotheparkandseeingwhat'sbloomingthere?"

Lilynoddedeagerly,andtheyfinishedtheirbreakfastquicklysothattheycouldheadouttothepark.Astheywalked,Lilylookedaroundatallofthetreesandbushes,searchingforanysignsofspring.Andthenshesawit-aclusterofdaffodils,theirbrightyellowpetalsstandingoutagainstthebrowndirt.

"Look!"sheexclaimed,pointingtotheflowers."Springishere!"

Hermothersmiledagain."Yes,itis,"shesaid."Andthere'ssomuchmoretocome."

Astheycontinuedwalking,Lilysawmoreandmoresignsofspring.Cherryblossomswerestartingtobloom,theirpinkpetalscascadingdownfromthetreeslikeconfetti.Thegrasswasstartingtoturngreenagain,andeventhebirdsseemedtobesinginglouderthanusual.

Lilycouldn'tcontainherexcitementanylonger.Shestartedrunningthroughthepark,twirlingaroundincirclesandlaughingasthewindblewherhairaroundherface.Hermotherwatchedherwithasmile,happytoseeherdaughtersofullofjoy.

Afterawhile,theymadetheirwaytoasmallpondthatwassurroundedbywillowtrees.Lilysatdownonthegrassybank,takinginthepeacefulscenearoundher.Shewatchedastheduckspaddledlazilyaroundthepond,theirfeathersglisteninginthesunlight.

Asshesatthere,Lilystartedthinkingaboutallofthethingsshewantedtodothisspring.Shewantedtoflykiteswithherfriends,haveapicnicunderacherryblossomtree,andmaybeevengoonabikeridethroughthecountryside.Sheknewthatshehadbeenwaitingforthisseasonforalongtime,andshewasdeterminedtomakethemostofit.

Afterawhile,Lilyandhermothermadetheirwaybackhome.Astheywalked,theytalkedaboutallofthethingstheyhadseenanddonethatday.Lily'smotherremindedherthatspringwasn'tjustaboutenjoyingthewarmweather-itwasalsoabouttakingcareoftheEarthandhelpingthingsgrow.

"Iknow,"Lilysaid."That'swhyIwanttotrygardeningthisyear.Iwanttoplantmyownflowersandwatchthemgrow."

Hermothersmiled."Thatsoundslikeagreatidea,"shesaid."Maybewecangotothegardencenterandpickoutsomeseedstogether."

Lily'sheartswelledwithhappinessatthethought.Sheknewthatthisspringwasgoingtobesomethingspecial-atimeofgrowth,newbeginnings,andendlesspossibilities.

Astheyarrivedbackattheirhouse,Lilylookedupatthesky,whichwasnowadeepshadeofblue.Shetookadeepbreath,fillingherlungswiththefreshspringair.Sheknewthatthiswasjustthebeginning-therewassomuchmoretocome.

Asshewentinsideandstartedtogetreadyforbed,Lilythoughtaboutallofthethingsshewantedtodotomorrow.Shewantedtowakeupearlyagainandexploreevenmoreoftheworldaroundher.Shewantedtoseewhatothersignsofspringwerewaitingforhertodiscover.

Asshedriftedofftosleep,Lilyknewthatthisspringwasgoingtobesomethingspecial.Itwasaseasonofhope,ofrenewal,andofendlesspossibility.Andshecouldn'twaittoseewhatitwouldbring.
